The flat TV Lock did not work on my tv. The description says it’s VESA compatible, but it does not specify that it is VESA 200mm, 400mm, 600mm, 800mm (which is the distance between the two holes on the back of the tv where the lock would be installed). My Sony TV, 46in, Bravia XRB5 is 300mm VESA… so it does not work. It probably would have been perfect. I had to return it.

I purchased this product yesterday at Babies R Us to anchor our new Samsung 50″ Plasma. Looks great out of the box, and I follow the directions to quickly assemble the crossbar that goes across the back of the TV. First, the good news – the screws included fit the VESA holes on my Plasma! The bad news: the holes I need to use on the crossbar are TOO SMALL!! At first I was ready to go back to the store and return this thing, but it looked like it would meet our needs so well that I decided to think outside the box. I found a drill bit that looked to be just about the size of the screws I needed, opened up the holes I needed in the crossbar (took 2 minutes total), and VOILA!! I had the right screws, the right size holes, and the crossbar was tightly and securely affixed to the back of my Plasma!
With that hurdle overcome, I proceeded to install the bracket to the stud on the wall. Here is where the product finally shines: Although the stud was a few inches off center, the included brackets and hinges for the mount have so many swivel points and extensions that I was able to not only safely affix the crossbar to the rod and the wall, it didn’t affect my Samsung’s swivel base at all! So now my Plasma’s stand still has a full range of motion, but I don’t have to worry about my adventurous kids pulling my brand new TV onto the floor.
This is a fantastic product in every way but with their hole placements. Once they get that part of the engineering figured out (multiple sets of brackets), I would imagine the reviews will get much better. In the meantime, the hole sizing is what kept me from giving this thing 5 stars, but other than that, it works beautifully.

I did a lot of research before I bought this product. We just got a nice big 47″ Vizio RAZOR LED TV (65 lbs!) and I wouldn’t have even dared to unpack it or set it up without first having a truly secure way to keep it from falling on top of my child.
Well, I’m here to tell you that I am very happy with the results and this product. I made sure that my flatscreen was VESA compatible (which they all seem to be) and what the distance of the holes were (200mm) that seemed to be just right for this safety device. Now there has been talk about the mounting holes on the Prograde Flat Screen TV Lock for the larger flatscreens (~800mm). I can’t speak to that issue but the consensus is that if you expand the holes “on the TV lock” itself with a 3/8th drill bit, you’ll get the larger bolts to fit–you’ll have to test that yourself though. As for the 300mm VESA holes there seems to be a way to use the 200mm & 400mm holes to split the difference. I can’t speak to that either but the bottom line is do some research before you finalize your buying decision.
Setting it up and mounting it to the wall was no biggie. My only problem, that had nothing to do with the TV Lock, was that we like to “kiddie corner” our TV so I needed to use the full extension and push everything back (TV and stand) as far as it would go. Fortunately, I just made it with like an inch to spare–good thing we didn’t buy a larger flatscreen! The other problem was that our walls are so thick that even with my stud finder on deep scan I couldn’t find the darn stud. But the TV Lock kit comes with drywall mounting anchors that worked perfectly. I am confident that the flatscreen is going nowhere unless I myself unlock it!
In fact, when I purchased a new blu-ray player to go with the high-def flatscreen, unlocking the TV Lock was a breeze. Then I pushed the stand/TV out, setup the new player, pushed everything back, and relocked it. Done.
As far as I’m concerned this product rocks! I now have the peace of mind that my kid won’t get hurt around our new toy.
Check your television before buying this,
