I bought this at a drugstore while on a road trip with my 20 month old. She was born in South Korea- technology capital of the world!!! When we met her for the firt time at 16 mos- she had an android in her hand- LOL. We’ve had to work hard on detaching her from technology and getting her to focus on age appropriate toys. She saw this, seemed interested in it, and I thought $7-8 was a pretty good price for a few minutes of quiet in the car. I can not beleive how much she has played with this in the last few weeks. She “talks” on it all the time, mimicing how I talk on my phone and she’ll bring it to me and put it up against my ear for me to talk. She has also loved chewing on the outer rim that fits perfectly between her front teeth and first molar as she works on getting those stinky pointy teeth in! We have several phone toys- including a few dead real cell phones. This is by far her favorite. I’ve really been pleasantly surprised.
Yes, I do think it would be better priced at around $3. Yes, the middle is clear and those are not buttons to push just pictures. And yes it does play just a few little tunes. But honestly, this allows your little one to use their imagination, which IMHO is what toys should be all about!
FYI- it also comes with a ring that fits through a hole in the “screen” that can be attached to a toy bar, car seat handle, etc.

My 6 month old was constantly drooling all over my iphone and I wanted to get something that looked enough like one we would be able to give it to him and he could be entertained. The nubby orange outer part is great for his teething and sore gums and he loves hearing the noises that the star makes.

I thought that all of the little buttons were going to work instead of just the star button so it would be more like mommy’s and daddy’s phones. But my son still loves it, and he dances to all the songs.
