Have this item, helps me sleep better at night.,
I bought this monitor when my son was going into his own room, he was just under the 4 month mark, and I had lost my nephew shortly before he turned 4 months old (this was not related to SIDS, but I was still paranoid). I read a lot of reviews on different monitors and I narrowed it down to this monitor and a video monitor. This one won out, merely because the alarm goes off if it does not detect any movement in the crib. If I had a video monitor I would probably be up all night watching him just to make sure he was still breathing.
The monitor works great, but you have to make sure you test it properly. I’ve tested it every time I change anything in the room (ie-changing his sheets, or changing the speed of the ceiling fan). This might seem a little extreme but it does make a difference depending on where you have your crib. It’s gone off quite a few times, mainly because my son has rolled into the corner of his crib and is no longer on the sensor. While the sound of the alarm going off is enough to scare the dickens out of you it has also made me feel better that this product does work.
This model came with 2 monitors so we keep one in our room, and one in the living room, they have a belt clip so you can move around and carry it with you hands free. The monitor that is in the babies room has a switch on it, that can be turned on or off and it gives off a blue light in the room so it can be used as a night light.
Now, I for one will say, that this product does not say anywhere on the packaging that it prevents SIDS in anyway, but I bought it for piece of mind. I have never seen an advertisement making these claims, as it is merely used as a monitor to tell you if it does not detect any movement for 20 + seconds in the crib. I still follow the rules of “No blankets/soft toys/place baby on back” to be safe, but with my son rolling on his tummy to sleep, I have no choice but to let him sleep the way he finds comfortable.
I would highly recommend this to any parent, the monitor may cost more than other monitors, but I found that it was well worth the money, and gives me some relief since I can’t stay awake all night just to watch my son sleep.

|too many false alarms,
This product is a great idea but has way too many false alarms. It would go off every couple of minutes, causing us to not get any sleep at all. I was really hoping this product would give us some peace of mind and instead it just frustrated us and we ended up sending it back.

|Puts my mind to rest, that my preemie is safe. Worth the price!,
When my Mom found out I was having the baby’s room downstairs and our bedroom was upstairs, she insisted on getting a great baby monitor. At first she wanted one of those video monitors, but then I showed her this one. My son was a preemie and she was extra nervous but when she saw it, She was sold. They have since upgraded it to include a video camera. It is pricey, but I got it as a gift. And it makes me feel secure. It is an easy set up and I have used it in my son’s basinett, a play yard, and his crib. For me, I love that if you want you can set it up to beep as the little pendulum on the handheld monitor swings. That beep makes me know the baby is fine. But it can also be silent and show the pendulum swing and you feel that same sense of security too. It also has excellent sound quality and good range. I have been able to do yardwork, shower, etc. while he naps and hear my son wake up in good clarity.
I saw some reviews talk about false alarms and I use to have the false alarms too, but I noticed in the instructions it states you should put a flat thin board between the springs of the crib and the actual mattress when placing the sensor. You can get one cut to the complete size of your crib dimensions at Home Depot or Lowes for cheap. I also make sure the sensor panel is in the middle of the crib, which can get moved when changing sheets etc. When I would have the false alarms it was typically because the board we had initially used did not cover the whole mattress surface from underneath and my son would be sleeping up at the top of the crib or in the corner and the board we used was too small so the sensor didn’t “feel” or Sense him. Now that we have the right size board, The false alarms never happen. I even have it at the highest sensitivity level. I have owned it for 14 months. Love it! If I didn’t get it as a gift, I still would have bought it myself. Can’t put a price on your child’s safety. As a mother you have enough to worry about. This product makes me know he is safe when he is asleep and lets my mind relax so I can rest when he does.
